Lexington Produces Electricity

Lexington PTO

Brightfields’ Lexington solar project started producing electricity on Thursday, May 11th.

“It is great to see the Lexington solar array completed and producing electricity” states Brightfields’ Principal, Mike Singer. “We want to thank all of our development partners for their hard work bringing this complex and challenging project to fruition.”

The Lexington Solar Project is a 2.25 MWDC solar photovoltaic project located at Town of Lexington’s closed landfill, which functions as a regional compost and hazardous waste collection facility. This innovative project contains a ground mount array and two solar canopy structures. Throughout the development process, the Brightfields team worked closed with representatives from the Town, Department of Public Works, and Regional Hazardous Waste Agency to craft a solar canopy solution that maximized system capacity while maintaining traffic flow and site operational requirements.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at the facility (60 Hartwell Ave., Lexington) at 8:30 AM on Thursday, May 18th.
