History of collaboration
Brightfields understands the need to work hand-in-hand with utilities to identify solutions that benefit all parties. Successful solar projects require partnerships between developers and utilities and Brightfields has successfully collaborated with public and private utilities across the Nation.
We have built a strong reputation for completing unique and innovative solar projects by tailoring design solutions to local site conditions and community needs. In Vermont, we have collaborated closely with Green Mountain Power (GMP) to provide infrastructure upgrades to the utility’s electric power system in coordination with the development of a 5 MW array at the Elizabeth Mine, Superfund Site, helping GMP to reach its renewable goals. Brightfields was selected by the Connecticut Municipal Energy Electric Cooperative (CMEEC) to develop 20 MW portfolio of solar facilities throughout the Cooperative’s service territory. Brightfields collaborated with CMEEC member utilities to identify prospective brownfield and greenfield sites to host solar arrays. These projects will integrate solar PV systems with 6 MWh of battery storage, providing a multitude of ancillary benefits to the utilities.
Brightfields is uniquely positioned to provide utilities with innovative solutions for strategic solar integrations that enhance grid reliability. Throughout our history, Brightfields has demonstrated technical competence by working on a variety of solar photovoltaic projects ranging from 20 MW to 500 KW. These projects have utilized fix mount, tracking, and carport racking systems, been interconnected to power lines ranging from 13.8 KV to 125 KV, and have deployed a variety of module technologies. To create additional value for the grid, Brightfields is working on developing grid storage systems, ranging from 500 KW to 10,000 KW.
